Army Family Team Building

Army Family Team Building (AFTB) is a training/awareness program designed to increase the self-sufficiency and self-reliance of military family members.

AFTB is open to everyone. For continuity purposes, DA has suggested a specific grouping of the modules and divided them into three levels of training designed for a specific segment of the military Family. Level One training is for those Family Members new to the military lifestyle or anyone interested in updating personal skills or basic knowledge; Level Two is for those Family Members with 5 to 10 years of experience living and traveling with the military and regarded as emerging leaders in the community; and Level Three, is for those volunteer leaders who will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and advising others.

To become an AFTB instructor the following criteria must be met:

  •  Successfully complete Level One
  • Be agreeable to teach as needed
  • Successfully complete ACS Instructor Training Course
  • Receive AFTB instructor orientation
