The Fort Gordon Command Sergeant Major

CSM Kevin S. Schehl

Command Sergeant Major Kevin S. Schehl entered the Army Ohio National Guard in March 1982 and enlisted on active duty 17 June 1985.

His military education includes: PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, Basic Airborne Course, Ranger School, Jumpmaster Course, Standard COMSEC Custodian’s Course, Drill Sergeant School, Winter Survival Course, NCO Risk Management Course, the Airlift Hazardous Materials Course, First Sergeant Course and Sergeants Major Academy Class 55.

His assignments include: 1/10th FA, 3d ID, Germany. A 1/75th Ranger Regiment, HAAF, GA, 2/46th IN Fort Knox, Kentucky, HHC 1/75th Ranger Regiment, HAAF, GA, 6/37th FA (MLRS) Korea, 24th Ordnance Company, HAAF, GA, 123rd Signal Battalion, Fort Stewart, GA, Division Artillery, Fort Stewart, GA, G-6, 2d ID, Korea and the 39th Signal Battalion, Belgium.

Leadership positions include: Team Leader, Section Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Battalion Signal Chief, Platoon Sergeant, Brigade Signal Chief, First Sergeant, Task Force Red Signal Officer during Desert Storm and Battalion Command Sergeant Major.

Command Sergeant Major Schehl’s awards include: the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal 5th Award, Army Commendation Medal 3rd Award, Army Achievement Medal 7th Award, Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal 8th Award, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal-2, SW Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze stars, GWTEM, GWTSM, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon-3, Kuwait Liberation Medal (KU) & (SA), Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Drivers Badge, the Order of Saint Barbara Field Artillery Association Medal and Foreign Awards which include; Botswana, German, Belgium, and Jordan Parachutist Badges.

Command Sergeant Major Schehl has a Bachelors degree from Excelsior College and completed an MBA through TUI 19 September 2008.
