Joint C4 Planner's Course (JC4PC)

Marine Corps Course  ID#: A09CGH1

This is a four (4) week course aimed at mid-grade planners (O3-O5 officer, senior warrant officers, and enlisted personnel in the grades of E7-E9 (waiverable one grade 02/E6).  The Joint C4 Planners course focuses on the technical aspects of C4 planning within the crisis action planning process and maximizes use of standard Joint C4 Planning Tools to prepare for operations in the Joint Environment.  Instruction will ensure students have a strong foundation in Joint C4 fundamentals and will culminate with the development of the required Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) documents (Annex K, Architectural Diagrams) and other critical C4 planning documents (COMSEC Callout, Joint Restricted Frequency List, Satellite Access Request/Gateway Access Request) necessary to plan a Joint Communications Network.

In a hands on scenario based environment students are taught to plan and manage the integration and interconnection of diverse types of Joint and Allied Communications Systems into interoperable local area and long haul information networks supporting tactical Joint and Combined Operations.  Students learn techniques to determine the overall network architecture to support battlefield user requirements, exercise network control and conduct recurring network analysis.  Emphasis is placed on the practical application of systems engineering principles to plan and manage communication/information networks using fielded and future military and commercial off-the-shelf systems.
