The Secure Mobile Anti-Jam Reliable Tactical Terminal (SMART-T) Operator/Maintainer Course will begin with a three week introduction to satellite communications.  This course provides an orientation in radio, satellite, and test measurement diagnostic equipment (TMDE) fundamentals.  The student receives training on communication principles, basic communications networking, satellite characteristics, common satellite terminal components, principles of satellite communication, and TMDE.  This course is necessary to provide the students with a base of knowledge to continue on to the remainder of the courses taught at the SATCOM COE.    Next, the Marine will advance to a three week course on the AN/TSC-154. The SMART-T course begins with self-paced Computer Based Training (CBT) and ends with an abundance of practical application exercises. The course will cover the installation, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance (Direct Support) of the SMART-T terminal.
