Administration
The Marine Detachment aboard Fort Gordon (MCC J44) handles all personnel
administration and billeting for those Marines attending schools (MCC K89)
aboard the Post. All Marine students, attached here in excess of 30 days, are
required to bring their service record book (SRB) or officer qualification
record (OQR) along with medical and dental records.
The Detachment also provides administrative support to those Marines admitted
to the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC) (MCC W55) for a
period of 30 days or greater, or as directed by higher authority.
The Detachment performs liaison functions for all active duty Marines who are
"inpatients" at DDEAMC, Veterans Administration (VA) medical center in Augusta,
and VA medical center in Dublin, Georgia.
MESSING: In accordance with
the base agreement between the Marine Corps Detachment and the U.S. Army Signal
Center, messing IS NOT available for SNCOs and Officers while attending school.
ALL Sergeants and below will receive a meal card
upon attachment or joining the command. All requests to maintain COMRATS
will be approved or disapproved by the Detachment Commanding Officer.
BILLETING: Depending upon
the availability of rooms, ALL students (regardless of rank) will utilize
government billeting. Sgt's and below will reside in the Marine Corps
barracks in building 25707.
All SNCOs will need to contact Griffith Hall at Comm (706) 790-3676, to make reservations. If government
billeting is not available, you must obtain a non-availability statement from
Griffith Hall prior to utilizing off base quarters.
LEAVE: Marines desiring to
take leave upon completion of authorized TAD, may do so dependent upon
authorization from THEIR Commanding Officer or First Sergeant (with by Direction
Authority). Upon authorization, an E-mail authorizing the leave or a faxed
copy of the leave request must be sent to this command.
PER DIEM: Marines may
complete a partial travel claim to receive 80% of their first months per deim
advance or wait until returning to Primary Duty Station (PDS) to complete a
travel claim. Partial travel claims will be submitted after the first 30
days of TAD.
VISA CARD: All Bank of
America VISA card holders must ensure that upon receipt of VISA statement, a
payment IS due (at least the minimum payment).
POV TRAVEL:
Per the Commanding Officer, ENTRY LEVEL STUDENTS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO
PURCHASE, DRIVE, OR RENT ANY VEHICLE WHILE ENROUTE OR ATTACHED TO MARINE CORPS
DETACHMENT FORT GORDON, GA.
If your current unit authorizes POV travel, ensure that a
reimbursement for in and about mileage statement is in your orders. CMC
will not pay for this expense unless authorized by them. Ensure that you
save all expense receipts (I.E. fuel, oil, etc.). These receipts will be
required upon completion of authorized TAD in submitting your final travel
claim.
**NOTE** If you are
pulled over by the Military Police aboard Fort Gordon for any traffic violation,
you will be attending a MANDATORY safety class in uniform from 0730 -1130 on
Saturday.
FSA: It is the
responsibility of your Administrative Section at your Permanent Duty Station (PDS)
to ensure that FSA for authorized members be entered into the system on time.
MAIL BOX: All students
will be offered the opportunity to receive a mail box for all of their incoming
mail. If you do not want a mailbox, all mail received will be returned to
sender.

RENTAL CAR: If you are
authorized by CMC to receive a rental car, it is your responsibility to reserve
the vehicle. Ensure you save all expense receipts (I.E. fuel, oil, etc..).
These receipts will be required upon completion of authorized TAD when
submitting you final travel claim.
RETURN TRAVEL: While TAD,
If you are driving a POV, you will be authorized 1 day travel in returning back
to your PDS, regardless of distance. Ensure upon authorization to drive a
POV, you request, through your unit, enough annual leave to return back to the
PDS. If you are TEMINS with PCSO enroute, you will be authorized the
appropriate travel time.
