Upon completion of
this course the Marine will move forward to a four week and three day course
covering the AN/TSC-85(D) and the AN/TSC-93(D). Those wishing to become GMF
Operators must have an EL score of 100 or higher and have a SECRET clearance
and have completed the Intro to SATCOM Course.
Marines get hands on training behind Vincent Hall. Much of the learning is done in the classroom prior to touching the equipment. These simulators allow the Marines to practice what they have covered in the classroom.

This course includes instruction in Ground Mobile
Forces Satellite Communications Terminals by providing the student with
satellite communications essentials ranging from the multiplexing to the
modulating. Students will receive a background in satcom to include
terminology, DSCS Satellite Systems, overall system signal flow, antenna
tracking and control. Radio fundamentals associated with satellite
communications and modulation principles will be provided. Baseband and
multiplexing principles to include equipment programming, patching, and
configuration will follow. The course will culminate with the students
performing the configuration, operation, and maintenance of a mini-hub/spoke
network to include user equipment.
