Speakers
As soldiers, we can speak best about our mission of training young people for the United States Army. But we are also:
- Conservationists
- Dentists
- Doctors
- Engineers
- Historian
- Law Enforcement Experts
- Lawyers
- Signaleers
and similarly qualified professional speakers who run the gamut from young men and women fresh out of school, to mature staff officers and unit commanders who have served many years in war and peacetime missions.
The Fort Gordon Speakers’ Bureau has been an invaluable tool for reinforcing and enhancing the public’s image of our installation and Department of Defense. We have long held an enviable and positive relationship with our host community, the Central Savannah River Area. This is greatly due to the dedicated and talented members of our workforce, military and civilian, who speak to the public about their duties, interests and missions.
The Public Affairs Office needs your support to revitalize and strengthen the Speakers’ Bureau. Due to downsizing and transformation, many of our accomplished speakers have left Fort Gordon. There is a definitive need to find other speakers within our ranks to tell our story to interested organizations, schools, service groups, etc. throughout the CSRA. We are looking for Fort Gordon personnel to share their expertise and special interests. Particularly needed are servicemembers who relate well to children of all ages; those willing to talk about their military training, service to country, experiences in uniform, values learned, the importance of our military services and the patriotic holidays that honor them. Putting a face to America’s military is especially important while we are a nation at war. Our CSRA neighbors have been extremely supportive of Fort Gordon and remain extremely interested in its people and their missions.
We would appreciate your consideration in sharing your story with them. If interested in becoming a part of this important community relations asset, please send the following information to communityrelations@conus.army.mil: name, grade/rank, duty phone, organization, duty title/MOS, subjects you are qualified to discuss (in order of preference), any formal training in public speaking and if so, where; previous public speaking experience and if so, number of years and where; civic/fraternal organizations in which you have held membership. For questions or more information, contact Community Relations, PAO, at 791-1871.
