Composition of the Army Youth Sponsorship Program
The Army Youth Sponsorship Program (AYSP) is comprised of two elements: the Child & Youth Services (CYS) Youth Sponsorship Club and the Student To Student (S2S) School Transition Support Program.
Youth Sponsorship Clubs are offered in Active Duty and Reserve Component CYS Programs, while S2S is delivered through schools that serve military youth.
Youth Sponsorship Clubs
Relocation Assistance and Transition Assistance are the two major topics addressed by the Youth Sponsorship Club. The Youth Sponsorship Club focuses on relocation support and the life transitions that military-connected children and youth often encounter, while offering programs specifically tailored to the needs of these children and youth.
Student To Student (S2S) School Transition Support Program
The S2S Program is a school-based program designed to aid youth who are changing schools due to their parent’s military mission requirements. This program is designed to allow children and youth to acclimate more easily and quickly into their new school environment. The S2S Program is school-managed and student-led.
The Desired Outcomes of the Army Youth Sponsorship Program
- Children and youth will find themselves better prepared for and able to cope with any changes and stresses that they may encounter due to their parents’ military requirements
- Parents will have access to the tools necessary to guide their children and youth through relocation and life/ school transitions – allowing them to focus on their military mission
