Additionally the TADSS Section has non-returnable Graphic Training Aids, (GTAs) available without a hand receipt to support MOS instruction and training.
Items available for Loan and Issue are as follows: resuscitation mannequins, map boards, M16A2 plastic rifles, Explosive Ordnance Devices (EOD) for mine recognition training, moulage wound sets, first aid mannequins, combat dummies, lensatic compass mockups and various other training aids and devices.
In order to take advantage of all TADSS services, products and equipment Loan and Issue provided by the TSC, IAW, the Fort Gordon Standard Level of Support and Inter-Service Support Agreements an organization must establish a hand receipt. The hand receipt is used to record all nonexpendable equipment and other support used by the requesting activity. The POC for this service is the TADSS, Property Book Officer.

The following non-returnable GTA's are examples of some of the numerous items TSC has available:
PROPERTY ACCOUNTABILITY
Hand Receipts
The Fort Gordon, TSC, TADSS IAW Army Regulation 350-38, Training Device Polices and Management, will retain positive control and execute property accountability for all Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations (TADSS). IAW AR 5-9, Area Support Responsibilities, the TSC provides area support for the Active Component (AC), Reserve Component (RC) units, Army National Guard, College ROTC and JROTC units in the state of Georgia. The TSC is authorized to execute the full range of TADSS management and service in the mid to northern half of Georgia. This includes all counties north of Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Jones, Lamar, Meriwether, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Toombs, Troup, and Wheeler; East of Bleckley, Dodge, Jones and Twiggs.
ESTABLISHING A TSC HAND RECEIPT ACCOUNT
In order to take advantage of all the TADSS and Loan and Issue services provided by the Fort Gordon, Common Level of Support (CLS) and Inter-Service Support Agreements an organization must establish a TSC Hand Receipt Account. Units must submit a DA FORM 1687, Notice of Delegation of Authority-Receipt of Supplies, to the TADSS facility, Building 81101 on 12th Street. All Military personal must submit an Assumption of Command or Appointment Orders as Hand Receipt Holder. Civilian personnel are required to submit a memorandum appointing them as the primary hand receipt holder for their office or section. Loan and Issue of training aids may be loaned for a period of 30 days on a temporary basis. The responsible officer or individual for the unit’s or organization’s hand receipt must contact the TADSS facility to obtain relief from property accountability when a change in personnel occurs.
POC for hand receipts, turn-ins or other related subjects is the TADSS Accountable Officer.

MULTIPLE INTEGRATED LASER ENGAGEMENT SYSTEM, (MILES)
The Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) is a laser based, appended training device designed for force-on-force training. Laser transmitters and detectors are attached to each individual and vehicle. The transmitters and detectors then simulate weapons fire and target hits. Next generation MILES systems (IMILES) are currently being fielded to Training Support Centers for use by all Active, Reserve and National Guard units. This will not be available until 2015.

![]() |
MILES is designed to augment training with direct fire simulators. The simulators allow force-on-force maneuvers with real-time kill or near miss feedback, providing an environment similar to combat with realistic casualty assessment. To maximize MILES equipment requires constant command emphasis by leaders at all levels of command.
Commanders of units using MILES should ensure key personnel have received training in installation, operation, bore sighting, troubleshooting, user maintenance and accountability of MILES equipment.
Memorandum requesting training will state type of MILES equipment and date(s) requested. Units will specify if contact team training and certification is desired. Request will include name, grade, and unit assignment of attendees. Classes are scheduled at least two weeks in advance by the VTC at (706)791-1791or 0348 DSN# 780.
MILES equipment should be requested to support unit-training objectives of force on force training. In addition to standard MILES exercises, MILES may be used for individual soldier and crew training.

Safety
Although the laser light emitted by MILES equipment transmitters is considered eye safe by the Bureau of Radiological Health, suitable precautions must be taken to avoid any possible damage to the eyes from over exposure to radiated energy. Precautionary measures include the following:
Avoid viewing the laser emitter at close range (less than 12 meters).
Avoid viewing the laser emitter directly along the optical axis of the beam, especially with stabilized optics such as binoculars, telescopes or periscopes at ranges of less than 75 meters.
Do not transport MILES equipment with POV. All MILES equipment is covered by a logistical contract, therefore, cables, plugs, and battery components are not to be altered or modified in any way.
Scheduling
Scheduling of MILES equipment will be accomplished by completing TSC SOP and Fort Gordon’s guidelines. Scheduling and pickup of MILES equipment will be done by the Loan & Issue section. Appointments can be made by calling (706)791-9378 DSN# 780.
Request Procedures
The unit determines what type of training is to be accomplished and the amount of equipment that will be required based on the number of weapon systems to be employed.
The Loan and Issue request will be prepared and submitted at the TADSS Facility, Bldg. 81101, 12th Street, Fort Gordon 30905. Requests should be submitted to TADSS at least 15 days prior to requirement. Requests will be filled on an as available and priority basis.
This trainer is available to Active, Reserve and National Guard units, as well as required civilian organizations. The MILES can be reserved by contacting the VTC at the numbers provided below. LASER MARKSMANSHIP TRAINING SYSTEM (LMTS)
The LMTS is a commercial-off-the-shelf laser marksmanship training system that supports the Army’s marksmanship training strategy. Since it is light, transportable, uses self-sustained power or power from a vehicle and requires no fixed facilities support, it is ideal for training scenarios in the field during the day or at night. LMTS accommodates numerous weapons and calibers to include the following: M9 pistol, M16 and M4 rifles, and M249, M240 and M2 machine guns. It uses the individual and sustainment marksmanship training using nuclear, biological and chemical equipment.
