Range Control
The Fort Gordon Range Control, (RC) is a branch of the Training Division, (TD), Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security, (DPTMS). RC is a full service Sustainable Range Program, (SRP) activity, comprised of the Range Training Land Program, (RTLP) and the Integrated Training Area Management, (ITAM). RC also manages an off-post training site at the Savannah River Site, (SRS). The Fort Gordon Range Complex, (FGRC) has a geographic area of 56,506 acres comprised of 17 live fire ranges/facilities, 12 artillery and 3 mortar firing points, restricted air space, Preston Drop Zone, 31 landing zones, 12,862 acres in two impact areas, and 51 major training areas supporting light tactical maneuver to include Artillery, Helicopters, and Ground Maneuver Forces in support of assigned Medical, Signal and Military Intelligence Units.
Range Control Mission

To support the commander’s intent through advising and assisting unit trainers in providing highly realistic training without compromising safety.

To assist commanders in meeting their overall training objectives by tailoring training facilities and ranges to the requirements of training tasks identified in the unit’s METL.

To provide scheduling, operating and coordination assistance, and control of training lands and airspace.

To provide top tier training support to all Armed Services, Federal, and Local Agencies through continued sustainment and improvement of FT. Gordon’s Ranges and Training Facilities.
Location
Range Control Headquarters is located in Bldg # 81200 at the corner of 12th Street and Range Road. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday from 0730-1630 hrs. For after hours emergencies contact the Installation Operations Center (IOC) OIC/NCOIC at COMM 706-791-9747.
